January 2026 Bible Study: Journey to Freedom — The Life of Moses

As we prepare to step into a brand new year, I wanted to share what our first Bible study will be. I wanted to begin 2026 with a study that speaks to seasons of wandering, waiting, and learning to trust God when the road ahead feels uncertain. After everything this past year has held—unexpected losses, new beginnings, and moments where my own faith felt stretched thin—the Lord kept placing one name on my heart:

Moses.

Which is why our Bible Study for January 2026 is:

Journey to Freedom: The Life of Moses

For this study, I’ll be using the beautiful materials from The Daily Grace Co. (listed in my Resources page). Their study on Moses is one of the most encouraging, gospel-centered guides I’ve ever worked through, and I knew it was the right place to begin this new year.

What This Study Covers

Journey to Freedom is a seven-week study that walks through the life of Moses while pointing us to something greater—the gospel of Jesus Christ woven throughout the Old Testament.

Through selected passages in Exodus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, this study explores how:

  • the rescue of Israel from Egypt,
  • the Passover,
  • the tabernacle,
  • the wilderness journey,
  • and the promised land

…all serve as pictures of God’s ultimate plan of redemption.

We’ll also be learning about typology, a beautiful and sometimes overlooked concept in Scripture. Typology helps us recognize how people, events, and structures in the Old Testament foreshadow the final saving work of Jesus.

In other words—

Moses points forward.
The tabernacle points forward.
The wilderness points forward.
The entire journey points forward.

And where does it lead?
To Jesus Christ.

Topics We’ll Explore

Throughout the month, we’ll look at:

  • God’s unfolding plan of redemption
  • Egypt and the symbolism of slavery to sin
  • God’s covenant and His promises
  • Freedom and deliverance
  • The wilderness as a place of sanctification
  • The Promised Land and eternal hope
  • The tabernacle as a picture of God dwelling with His people
  • The law and our need for a Mediator
  • Jesus as the true and greater Moses

This study is rich, thoughtful, and deeply rooted in the truth that all Scripture points to Christ.

Why Moses for the New Year?

I chose Moses because his story mirrors so many parts of our spiritual lives:

  • Starting over
  • Being called into something uncomfortable
  • Trusting God in the unknown
  • Learning obedience step by step
  • Wrestling with doubt
  • Feeling inadequate
  • Watching God make a way when there is no way

If you are beginning 2026 unsure of what lies ahead—if you feel like you’re in a wilderness of your own—this study is for you.

How We Will Study Together

Throughout January, I’ll share:

  • Weekly reflections
  • Scriptures to journal through
  • Key themes from the study
  • Personal insights from my own journey
  • Questions to help you dig deeper
  • Space to pray, reflect, and slow down

You can follow along whether or not you have the book, though I highly recommend The Daily Grace Co.’s study if you want the full experience.

Join Me on the Journey

My prayer is that this study helps us begin the year with hearts anchored in God’s faithfulness. Moses’ story is one of deliverance, renewal, and grace—and those themes are ones I think many of us need as we step into a new season.

If you plan to join the January study, I’d love to know.
Feel free to comment, message me, or simply follow along quietly at your own pace.

Here’s to beginning 2026 with hearts ready to grow.
Here’s to learning, step by step, how God leads us from bondage into freedom.

Journey to Freedom begins January 1st.
I can’t wait to walk through it with you.
